Squirtle, Wartortle, Blastoise, & Mega Blastoise.
The original Water starter. Even though the concept is simple, owning a giant tortoise with cannons that spout high-pressure water was pretty cool. But have you noticed Squirtle and Wartortle have a tail motiff going on that completly disappears once you get Blastoise?
Like Venusaur and Charizard, it also got a pretty solid Mega once X & Y came out. Something about that giant back cannon with two more on its arms rubbed me the right way. Blastoise has always been a solid choice and continues to be.
