To this day, they're some of the most popular creatures in the franchise. I remember trying to start with Charmander back in Red, but found it couldn't do jack shit to the first couple of gyms since they were Rock and Water type. But I think that's part of the challenge because owning your own dragon was SO worth it. It was always kinda frustrating that Charizard was never Dragon type until the X & Y games blessed it with not one, but two megas. To this day, Mega Charizard X is probably my favorite Mega to use. It's just so damn good!
